Calendar

The acwForum Calendar list includes a variety of acwForum events that are sponsored by or posted by acwForum Members (signatories), and may include volunteer or stewardship opportunities in the watershed, upcoming meetings, workgroup activities, field trips, seminars, etc. All events are oriented to fulfilling the overarching acwForum mission – to improve water-related beneficial issues and resources within the Alameda Creek Watershed. Fall Technical Symposium — Restoration in the Alameda Creek Watershed: Challenges and Solutions

Restoration practitioners and watershed enthusiasts (technical staff, land and water agency planners, creek organization members, etc.) are invited to an afternoon dedicated to exploring a range of restorations issues.  Topics include:

Tri-Valley Creeks to Bay Clean-up

Date: 2014-09-20
Location: Livermore (multiple sites)

This event is part of Coastal Clean-up Day, a statewide and international effort to clean trash and debris from beaches, bays, creeks, rivers and lakes.

Trash and debris negatively impact quality of life, property values and housing prices; and endanger plant, fish and wildlife populations and habitat. Removing trash and debris not only improves the aesthetic beauty of neighborhoods; it also helps to improve water quality and aquatic habitat in neighborhood creeks.

Register Now:

Due to limited space, please pre-register. It’s easy – just choose one of the following clean-up sites and contact Braden Christensen at (925) 960-8142 to sign up and obtain the required waiver form(s). Bring the signed and completed waiver form(s) with you to the event.

Cleanup Sites:

  • Site One: Arroyo Las Positas at Northfront Park Road (near Northfront Trailhead Park)
  • Site Eight: Altamont Creek and Arroyo Las Positas at Bluebell Drive (near Springtown Golf Course)
  • Site Nine: Arroyo Las Positas at Heather Lane (near Springtown Golf Course)

 

Note: Volunteers under 18 years of age must have the waiver forms signed by a parent or guardian. Volunteers under 13 years of age must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

The Adopt a Creek Spot Program is looking for refreshment and supply donations and/or discounts from local businesses. Sponsors will receive their logos printed on reusable cloth bags and promotional posters, their logo on our website and Facebook page, and their name mentioned in the event and on all press releases. Contact event coordinator Braden Christensen at (925) 960-8142 to find out more information.

California Coastal Cleanup – Del Valle Regional Park

Registration Opens August 5, 2014

Bring your family out and enjoy a day along the shoreline picking up micro plastics and cleaning up our waterways. This is the largest volunteer event on our planet. This is a great way to spend the day showing your family why it is important to properly dispose of debris. Come join your community on this world wide event that is having a positive effect upon our environment. Volunteers should bring a bucket (for litter pick-up) hat, gloves, refillable water bottle, and sunblock. Registration is required. The District will provide snacks, water, disposable gloves, and trash bags.

Alameda Creek Cleanup in Niles for Coastal Cleanup Day 2014

Location: Niles Staging Area, along Old Canyon Rd. at Canyon Oaks Ct. in the Niles area of Fremont

Please Join Us!

Come and help improve the health of your beautiful, local Alameda Creek with the Alameda Creek Alliance and the Alameda County Resource Conservation District’s Hands-On Conservation Program.

We’ll pick up trash and recyclables from the creekbanks and along the Alameda Creek trail, and report our hail as part of CA Coastal Cleanup Day. We’ll also remove invasive plants that damage the riparian area and its valuable wildlife habitat.

Wear work clothes and sturdy shoes that can get dirty, and bring gloves if you have them. We’ll provide trash bags and litter grabbers, and a snack after the clean up. Please bring your own re-fillable water bottle!

6th Annual Creek Cleanup Day

Location: 4 Dublin Creek Locations

The City of Dublin invites residents to participate in its 6th Annual Creek Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 13, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM.

This year, volunteers will be helping to clean up four creeks in the City — Tassajara Creek (at Emerald Glen Park), Alamo Canal (by the Dublin Civic Center), Alamo Creek (by Alamo Creek Park), and South San Ramon Creek (behind Dublin High School).

Volunteers will meet City staff at the group picnic area at Emerald Glen Park at 9:00AM. A continental breakfast will be served before the group ventures out to the creeks. At noon, the group will meet up at Emerald Glen Park for a light pizza lunch.
